Four stories about personal destiny which reveal how impossible to control one's fate. Draw in an almost outsider artstyle, resembling original Ryukishi07 spritework for Higurashi. First of the stories resembles a setting of a story in the Ashizuri Suizokukan collection, but while in that story it is a museum of guesses at what the future holds, here it is a collection of items recalled for various reasons. The difference between the two highlights the oddly somber tone of the whole collection. All the items found here are potential psychological threats to both young kids but also personally me as the reader. From a toy that implants the memories of a show about the fictional franchise merchandise, to an ever-expanding fractal of possibilities. The comedy of their existence aligns well with the experimentality of the form. The Manga shifts art styles in the later chapters, and plays with the fourth wall breaks that disturb the readers place in reality and situates them within the story. The second story must be my favourite, showing the life of someone stuck in stopped time. The atmosphere of this segment skid my assumption about this collection into a whole new direction. A series of experimental vignettes create the feeling of true dread. Not unlike the third story concerning man-made flying immortal mermaids. In spite of how this concept sounds, this is a slow meditative story, taking you on the longest journey of the four stories. The last is an emotional climax that humanises this collection, giving us a tender and beautiful moment of contemplation as love and grief collide.
