Sayman Dowman asks a brave question, what if Scott Pilgrim was gender-swapped, and also somehow lesbian? The answer is contained entirely within this comic. This is a lighthearted romantic comedy about a girl who desires to get closer to a boy, but the only way she can approach him is if she managed to deal with his exes, the odd(wo)man. They are just a variety of supernatural creatures, in other words: monster-girls. Very quickly it becomes clear that the guy does not really matter, and it is the oddman who become the real object of affection for the protagonist. This is the entire narrative of the manga. The series is primarily a comedy rather than a romance, and the lighting pace of the already short chapters is perfect for one of the funniest authors in manga. It is important to discuss Dowman a little, as his idiosyncrasies shine in this manga. His art style is the obvious stand out aspect of anything he's made. The simple flat colours combined with the sharp edges on everything work perfectly for the characteristically for Dowman fast paced storytelling. Although, while the art is quite cute, the comedy leans much more strongly towards edgy and sexual. The very first page depicts a girl pissing on a guy. The explicit nature of the comic makes sense once you peak at what else was published in the same magazine. To save you some time, its all bad looking hentai. But it is a massive disservice to suggest that the series is just an ecchi comedy. I mean it is that, really good at it, but it is more than jus that. All the characters have fun and developed personalities. The interactions between the large cast is the backbone of the manga. The varying levels of antagonism and friendliness the oddman express towards the main character result in the series constantly bouncing between moods. One moment you'll be playing a game of pingpong with your love life on the line and the next you'll have to struggle to convince a depressed lesbian that you do actually really like her. For me personally it is the cream of the crop of lewd lesbian comedy.
